Our walk will start from the quay of a name 62 army. This one of the most beautiful embankments of the pre-war years is still delights visitors coming to the city by Volga. Passing through the shady alleys of the Victory Park, you will come to the commemorative bust of Peter I, who has been here several times and who visited the fortress of Tsaritsyn three times. As a gift to the city he gave a cane and a cap to the citizens, saying, as legend says: "Here is your cane; how I ruled it with friends, so you defend yourself from enemies with it. As nobody dares to remove this cap from my head, so no one dares to withdraw you from Tsaritsyn".
Chapel and Church of St. John the Baptist is one of the first stone buildings in Tsaritsyn. Originally it was built on the Hungry Island, where the Tsaritsyn fortress was located. However, in 1615together they were moved to the right Bank of the river.
On the shore of the slope there is a restaurant "Mayak", from which the southern border of the fortress began. The restaurant is built on the old foundation of St. John the Baptist Church, which was destroyed during the battle of Stalingrad.
The promenade leads to the famous Pavlov’s House – the Ghost of the destroyed mill, which witnessed the great battle near the Volga. You will be able to see yourself how close the enemy was to his goal – to reach the Volga. However, the resilience and courage of the soldiers have been an insurmountable obstacle.
Pavlov House was defended by sergeant Yakov Pavlov’s assault reconnaissance during the days of the Stalingrad battle. The building survived in an unequal battle, which lasted for 58 days. This house became a monument, which resembles the Stalingrad events and a memory of generations.
During the excursion you will pass the Alley of Heroes, walk around the central square of fallen fighters, visit he three mass graves from different eras as well as touch the old Topol, which witnessed the battle of Stalingrad.
Near the square there is a central railway station. Beautiful, majestic building, it rises up and prop up the sky with its spire. On its area there is a famous fountain "Children's dance", which became the hallmark of Stalingrad after the historic battle.
